70 Club
Southampton West Rotary Club was formed in 1969 (yes, over 40 years ago, we've had the celebration!). It was soon realised that in order to achieve its ideals, it would need to have a source of funding that its committee chairmen could count upon, year by year. So in 1970, as you may have guessed, 70 Club was born.
Rotary works best by borrowing other people's ideas, then adapting them to acheive what it needs to carry out its objectives. In this case a scheme operated by the Southampton Lions was scaled down to suit the resources of our fledgling Rotary Club and it has worked well ever since.
Membership is not limited to Rotarians but is available by invitation from any Southampton West Rotarian. An invitation will swiftly follow an enquiry! The subscription of £12 a year has not changed since it started, although the memberships and prizes have.
The benefits are:
- A draw every October for prizes of £1000, £100 and £50.
- A draw every April for prizes of £500, £100 and £50.
- A prize draw in each other month of the year for £20.
- Two social events each year in the luxurious Concorde Club at very special prices.
- The satisfaction of supporting a club that donates £3000 annually to Southampton West Rotary Club, enabling it to help carefully vetted charities both locally and internationally.
Membership numbers are currently restricted to 350, so the chances of being a lucky prize winner are very favourable. At the last count there were 12 numbers available. For more information about 70 Club, please contact us
